Sizes & Specifications

Opening Sizes

The headroom is the space between the top of the opening for the garage door and the ceiling.

For the tracks to be installed correctly and for the door to open without damaging the panels, there must be headroom of at least 400 mm

The headroom must be levelled for proper installation.

The Nib space, located on the left and right of the opening, needs to be at least 150mm wide. This space will accommodate the tracks for the garage door’s movement.

The nibs must be levelled for proper installation.

Measure from one side of the opening to the other and from the floor to the lintel.

When we install the garage door, it will overlap to fit securely on the tracks. To ensure we provide accurate quotations, we’ll consider the opening size since the door size will change according to the internal structure of the garage and the best installation system for your home.

A standard single door is W: 2440mm x H: 2130mm.

A standard Double door is W: 4880mm x H: 2130mm.

Doors higher than standard are caravan height doors and range between 2400mm – 2600mm high.

We can create custom-sized doors if you require a door that is wider than standard or higher than a caravan. However, we recommend consulting a specialist to ensure the structure can properly support the door.

for proper installation

A lintel is a horizontal structural element typically made of steel, concrete, or wood, placed above an opening.

In garage door installations, the lintel plays a crucial role in maintaining the wall’s structural integrity above the expanded opening. When a garage door is installed, the wall’s structural strength can be compromised if the original support is altered or removed.

The lintel spans the opening, ensuring the weight from the wall above is evenly distributed and supported, preventing sagging or collapse.

When you are ready to install your garage door, you need to ensure that the plaster on the floor and ceiling of your garage is level and dry.

If the ceiling is not dry, the lintel is likely to droop, causing the installation to fall apart.

A plug point in the ceiling is essential because the automation is typically mounted overhead. Having the plug point close to the automation ensures a seamless connection to power, avoiding the need for extra wiring and maintaining a clean installation.

It is an insurance requirement that the plug cannot be cut nor extended to the plug point.

Importance

Ensuring the correct measurements is one of the most important elements when ordering your new garage door. It ensures that the door fits perfectly and functions properly. An incorrectly sized door can lead to installation problems, affect operation, and even cause safety risks.

After manufacturing each door, we meticulously measure and weigh it to properly calibrate the springs. This is essential for smooth operation and durability of the door.

A well-fitted door is essential for its performance and durability. Our team can assist you in taking accurate measurements and selecting the right size for your garage door.
